最近話題の iPaD とか IPhone とか各種ハイテク製品の組み立てを請け負っているFoxxcon で、最近自殺者がたくさん出ていて、労働環境がどうしたこうした、タコ部屋じゃないのか、サクシュはんたーい、といったありがちな左翼っぽい話や、これだ から中国は的なアンチ中国ネラーみたいな連中が喜んだりしている話があれこれ飛び交っているんだが、調べて見ると Foxconn は最低賃金よりずっと多い給料を払っていて、宿舎その他の待遇も類似の企業に比べて大変に整備されているし、自殺者の遺族にはかなり多額の見舞金（基本給 十年分！！！）が支払われているしで、労働環境的にはあまりこれという問題が見つからずにみんなどうしていいかわからないみたい。金持ちのぼっちゃん記者 が潜入ルポとか書いているけれど、都会の金持ちの坊ちゃんの想像力のなさ露呈しているだけで、これという話もないし。委託しているハイテク企業も、懸念し てる、何とかしろというだけ。
　そして一つおもしろいというべきか、ちょっとやりきれんなと思うのが、このEngadget 記事の、update 前の最後の部分。自殺者が自殺する原因の一つは、遺族への補償があまりに手篤いからだ、という指摘。それがどのくらいのウェイトを占めるのかはわからない けれど、そういう面があっても不思議ではない。むしろ待遇や福利厚生がよいからこそ自殺が増えてしまうという、変な状況があらわになっていて、何と言った らよいものか。 (2010/5/28, id)
